Accessibility: Our goal is to provide a welcoming, inclusive and accessible place of natural beauty and artistic inspiration for all visitors, regardless of age, gender, race, or ability. The grounds at Olana are wheelchair accessible via paved roads and some gravel paths.
The carriage roads are pedestrian only. Walking in nature restores the soul! During your walks, please be mindful of natural hazards like poison ivy, ticks, uneven surfaces, falling branches and trees, wild animals, ice, etc. Accessible devices such as wheelchairs and walkers are welcome, but may have difficulty in some spots.

Carry In, Carry Out! Please do your part to help us keep Olana pristine by carrying out anything that you bring with you. Please don’t litter!
Dogs are welcome outdoors at Olana and must be leashed AT ALL TIMES using a 6′ leash, without exception. Please help keep Olana clean: pick up after your dog and dispose of waste in waste receptacles located in the park. Greenport, NY town regulations require proof of rabies vaccination. With the exception of trained service dogs, animals are not permitted in interior spaces.
Drones: Recreational and commercial drone use is by permit only at Olana State Historic Site. Please contact the Director for information.
Filming: Olana offers a unique and inspiring setting for film and photography shoots. All outdoor film and photo shoots by permit only. Please contact the Director to apply.
Professional Photography: Commercial photography is by permit only. Please contact the Director to apply.
Fishing in the lake is permitted with New York State Fishing License. Swimming and boating are not permitted.
Olana’s Historic Flower Garden and Landscape are for everyone to enjoy. Please don’t disrupt the flora and fauna.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere at Olana State Historic Site nor is any type of grill or open flame.
Snow: Skating, sledding, and snow-boarding are not permitted at Olana. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are welcome!

Weddings and Special Events: At this time, we are not booking any weddings or special events at Olana State Historic Site due to ongoing construction projects at this site. We suggest visiting nearby Clermont State Historic Site to book your special event.
