Enjoy FREE house access and landscape tours at Olana State Historic Site from 12:30 PM – 6:00 PM. Advance reservations are not available; timed-entry house tickets and guided landscape tickets can be reserved on-site, day-of, in the Museum Store. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

The Hudson River Schools of Art and Their Ice Age Origins

September 19 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM

Time travel back to Olana’s ice age past! Join geologist Robert Titus for a walking tour showcasing Olana’s artist-designed landscape through science and storytelling. During this program, participants will learn more about the geological history of Olana and the forces that shaped Frederic Church’s masterwork.

This program will meet and begin outside the Visitor Center/Museum Store at the top of the hill.

Las Escuelas de Arte del rio Hudson y sus orígenes en la Era de Hielo

 ¡Viaje en el tiempo al pasado de la era glacial de Olana! Unase al geólogo Robert Titus en un recorrido a pie que muestra el paisaje diseñado por artistas de Olana a través de la ciencia y la narración. Durante este programa, los participantes aprenderán mas sobre la historia geológica de Olana y las fuerzas que dieron forma a la obra maestra de Fredric Church.  

Este programa se reunirá y comenzará afuera del Centro de Visitantes/Tienda del Museo en la cima de la colina.

Lunch and Learn: All About the Rural Cemetery Movement

Learn more about the origins and influences of the rural cemetery movement during this FREE lecture with Drs. Lynn Radlick and Michael Radlick. Using the Albany Rural Cemetery as a key example, they will discuss the beginnings of the cemetery movement in Europe, followed by its spread across cities in the U.S.

Worry Doll Workshop

Join educator Andrea Del Cid to learn more about the Guatemalan legend behind “Worry Dolls” or las munecas quitapenas. During this special workshop, participants will learn about this beautiful story and craft their own dolls to address worry and emotions through art. Open to all ages; offered in English and Spanish. FREE: meet at the Wagon House Education Center.

Los doctores Lynn Radlick y Michael Radlick les hablaran sobre los orígenes y las influencias del movimiento de los cementerios rurales durante esta charla GRATUITA. Utilizando el cementerio rural de Albany como ejemplo , hablarán sobre los comienzos del movimiento de los cementerios en Europa, seguido por su expansión por las ciudades de los EE. UU.
